Pouilly Fumé La Mariée, Caves Pouilly-sur-Loire, France, 2018-19

Pouilly Fumé lies across the river Loire from Sancerre where it produces only half as much wine as its better-known neighbour. The region has many small growers and some of the best of these have grouped together to form ‘Caves de Pouilly sur Loire’ reasoning that by pooling resources they are assured access to the best wine making facilities available. Aromatic and floral with intricate zesty fruits in the palate and a dry flinty finish.

This is of enormous help in making vibrant and aromatic Sauvignon Blanc in this relatively northern wine region growing area. Well founded and well managed, wines made here are always excellent.
