Tasting Character
Heather, Cinnamon, Pear, Honey, Toffee
NOSE: The Dalwhinnie's aroma clearly suggests toffee and sugared fruits- especially apple, pear and nectarine - in the background spicy, light smoke
PALATE: Malty with nutty notes, plus honey and vanilla - spicy heather tones with some smoke
FINISH: The 15 year old Dalwhinnie has a long finish - again the malt and nuts

Along with Cragganmore, this is one of the underrated members of the original Classic Six. Quite why has always slightly baffled me. OK, it isn't smokey, but the nose has a deep, soft, honeyed sweetness: think caramelized fruits, hints of thick cream, and a light touch of fennel and sharp citrus. Thick in the centre and very gentle, it's that chunkiness in the middle that is the secret to its beauty.
